Shaping the Energy Future of Schleswig-Holstein
To meet the expected doubling of electricity demand by 2030—driven by the rise of e-mobility and heat pumps—Schleswig-Holstein is on track to triple its renewable energy generation capacity, increasing from 11,000 MW to 30,000 MW. This ambitious goal includes the construction of 120 new substations and nearly 1,000 kilometers of high-voltage lines, ensuring the region's energy supply remains reliable and efficient for the future.
Looking ahead, the HanseWerk Group, a key player in the energy sector and operator of Schleswig-Holstein Netz, is set to invest over €2.8 billion by 2028. With a strong focus on upgrading and expanding heating and electricity networks, annual investments are set to rise from €400 million in 2023 to more than €700 million by 2028, marking the largest investment program in the company’s history.
