Smart solutions with every new generation
Nothing ist infallible, least of all the internet. But what if errors could be detected before they even occured? Solutions from PDAP by JessenLenz show how companies can use AI-supported dashboards, for example, to analyse their error rates proactively and optimise their processes in a targeted manner: intelligently, intuitively and in real time.
Transformation is a key concept in business. Without adapting to changing technologies and markets, companies cannot be successful in the long term. But internal transformation, including generational change at the management level, also needs to be addressed. The Lübeck-based IT and software company JessenLenz shows how both can be achieved with its PDAP business unit. “We are proud that we have repeatedly updated our CAQ software product over the years to meet the latest requirements. The version now available required an enormous transformation push in order to place comprehensive web capability using the latest AI and IT technologies on the market,” explains Holger Leu from the company’s management team.
His management colleague Armin Atefi adds: “Our customers in industrial manufacturing receive a process-oriented software solution that gives them a comprehensive overview of the quality of their products and processes. They can use it to reliably assess risks, avoid frequent errors instead of having to correct them, optimise processes and thus reduce costs. This solution is user-friendly, locationindependent and can be used in many languages.”
Armin Atefi is 33 years old and started his own IT consulting business while still studying at the University of Lübeck, as he recognised the unique potential of quality management. Holger Leu, 69, worked as an independent consultant for many years after selling his own ERP software company before bringing his expertise to JessenLenz. “I have known Joachim Jessen and Hans-Jürgen Lenz, who founded the company in Lübeck in 1978, for over 30 years. They asked me if I could imagine taking a look at PDAP’s market prospects in order to provide further potential product and business impetus. I was very happy to accept,” says Leu. He sees his role as that of a “doer, team player and coach”. JessenLenz employs a total of around 50 people. In addition to the company headquarters in the Schönböcken industrial park in Lübeck, near the A1 motorway, there are locations in Lübeck city centre, Rostock and Halle. “Among other things, our customers appreciate the tangible reduction in their production downtime. In addition, their audits run smoothly,” notes Atefi.
From its beginnings as a hi-fi retailer, IT support and computer hardware sales company, the company has developed into an established provider and developer of software and IT system solutions. The PDAP division was founded in 1983. The CAQ software is mainly used by medium-sized manufacturing companies in the automotive, medical technology, food, plastics technology and mechanical engineering industries and promises advantages through greater transparency, efficiency and predictability – from goods receipt and production to the analysis and processing of complaints. Atefi and Leu are positive about their collaboration “It’s a win–win situation,” the two Schleswig- Holsteiners agree. The next logical step is to prepare for succession in a timely and structured manner. Initial plans for this are already in place.
