Data protection is a priority issue at WTSH. In the following you can find out how we ensure that your data and confidential information do not get into the wrong hands. And we inform you what information we pass on to which institutions.
The information we receive through project proposals, funding applications and individual conversations is treated confidentially. WTSH employees are subject to a non-disclosure agreement. In other words, no information is passed on to anybody without your consent.
Yet in order to process and capture funding applications and subsequently pay out subsidies, we cannot avoid collecting, processing and, where necessary, passing on specific data (including personal data) to other authorities. For example, the Investment Bank has to examine and approve any subsidy payment made out of the European Regional Development Fund.
Hence, we would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the authorities or organisations data might or must be passed on to. This is why your funding application contains a Declaration of Consent to Data Processing and Information Transfer. This Declaration also covers the transfer of data to the parliaments of the EU, Federal Republic of Germany and State of Schleswig-Holstein. It also contains a declaration of consent that the approval authority or other institutions, such as scientific institutes commissioned by that authority, may evaluate your data for statistical purposes or evaluation of the success of funding measures. These findings may be passed on to the EU Commission and published.
All subsidies from the European Regional Development Fund are also listed in the official List of Beneficiaries. As an applicant, you implicitly consent to the publication of your subsidy (if approved) in that List. Any misgivings you may have about this practice are outweighed by the public interest in knowing what EU monies are used for and who benefits from them. This List of Beneficiaries is published on the Internet and can be viewed by anyone interested on the website of Schleswig-Holstein Investment Bank.
In many cases, large-scale projects cannot be financed from a single source. Hence, your application for funding to WTSH will also serve to release the public authorities involved, the relevant chambers, the Schleswig-Holstein Investment Bank, the SME Investment Company, the Warranties’ Bank and your own bank from their mutual obligation of confidentiality. When you submit a project proposal, we take your consent to this for granted. That is why this is pointed out in the relevant guidelines.
If you want more information about the whole data protection issue or provide products or services where this issue is of relevance, you can also contact the independent Data Protection Centre for Schleswig-Holstein.
WTSH has been appointed by Schleswig-Holstein’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, Employment, Transport and Technology and Ministry of Energy, Agriculture, the Environment and Rural Areas to implement funding programmes, in particular for small and mid-sized companies in Schleswig-Holstein.
We collaborate closely with a network of competent financing partners – institutions that are all housed in the Haus der Wirtschaft at the corner of Lorentzendamm and Bergstraße in Kiel. In many cases, large-scale innovative projects can only be driven forward by means of joint efforts between all these parties. We are happy to arrange for the corresponding contacts.
